Reddit is not a broadcast channel
Reddit communities are built around shared interest and moderated hard against self-promotion. A brand that arrives with a launch announcement is treated exactly like any other stranger who talks only about themselves. The channel rewards participation, not distribution.
Start by reading, not posting
Before a single comment, spend time in the subreddits your customers actually use. Learn the rules, the tone, the recurring questions, and the topics that get removed. That reading period is the difference between contributing and getting banned in week one.
Lead with usefulness
The most effective brand presence on Reddit answers questions properly, without a link, most of the time. Credibility accumulates across many small helpful comments. Once people recognise the account as knowledgeable, an occasional relevant mention is welcome rather than resented.
Be transparent about who you are
Disclose your affiliation when it is relevant. Redditors detect stealth marketing quickly and punish it publicly. Being open about working for a company is far less damaging than being caught pretending you do not.
Measure the right things
Reddit rarely produces a straight line to a sale. Track qualified conversations, direct messages, branded search lift, and referral traffic quality rather than raw upvotes.
